TUNI HETU
Tuni Hetu is a short documentary about Moluccan storytelling in the Netherlands.
The Moluccan culture is deeply rooted in oral traditions, where stories are passed down through generations within the community. These narratives often revolve around Moluccan customs, tales from the islands, and ancestral heritage, helping to keep the culture alive.
Mystical stories and ancestor worship also play a significant role in Moluccan tradition. Many of these tales are personal experiences that people cherish and hold close, often shared within Moluccan circles, as not everyone believes in the mystical aspects. Encounters with spirits whether of deceased family members or ancestors are believed to carry important meaning. In this series, several individuals share their experiences with seeing ancestors and the messages they’ve drawn from these encounters.
